First experiment underway

Excitement mounts. The first experiment aims to follow the life of new cuttings and is open-ended … or until all plants expire. It is based upon haphazard knowledge and experience I’ve gained over the last few years. This experiment should act as a guide for the indoor propagation of Ohia using vegetative cuttings.

Clicking here will whisk you away to the experiment page. Be warned, updates will be slow and random. I’ll keep track on how long they take to (a) show roots, and (b) produce leave buds. I am anticipating (b) to take a few months.

In the meantime, entertain yourselves with BBC Radio Norfolks ‘The Garden Party‘, with the Thunder Fairy and Alan Grey, or alternatively, BBC Hereford and Worcester’s ‘Sunday Gardening Show‘ with Jonathan Ray and Reg Moule. Both are very entertaining, with a good vibe … however it is only right to warn you about Reg’s occasional singing!

Welcome

No idea what you’re doing here, but welcome to my website! It will probably take a while to change the stock food and drink photos into something more appealing, as I’m working out exactly how this website will evolve. The long term aim is to celebrate ʻŌhiʻa lehua and to share useful info on propagation, caring and manipulating this iconic shrub/tree. Might even attempt to bonsai one or two of them if I’m feeling confident.

Sit back, relax, and expect long gaps between updates.
